Interpret: Petula Clark. Album titlle: Portrait Of A Song Stylist (CD). Genre Pop. Year of publication 1991. The song earned Petula a gold record award with sales of a million copies and was cited as the largest selling single up to that time by a foreign artist. Although Monsieur was Petula’s initial German release for Vogue, a subsequent single of St. Tropez backed with Du bist mein Anfang und mein Schluss (the former being a rerecording of one of her English and French selections) was actually recorded back in 1960 but had remained unissued until Petula’s German recording career was fully activated a couple of years later.
Opening with "A Foggy Day" done to an arrangement worthy of Phil Spector, she does dignified if not always spirited renditions of such late-'60s pop as "At the Crossroads" (from Doctor Dolittle) and period hits like "San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Some Flowers in Your Hair). Elusive Butterfly" is much more Clark's milieu and works a lot.
Doris Day (born Doris Mary Kappelhoff; April 3, 1922 – May 13, 2019) was an American actress, singer, and animal welfare activist. She began her career as a big band singer in 1939, achieving commercial success in 1945 with two No. 1 recordings, "Sentimental Journey" and "My Dreams Are Getting Better All the Time" with Les Brown & His Band of Renown. During the war troops referred to her as "the American V-2" She left Brown to embark on a solo career and recorded more than 650 songs from 1947 to 1967.

It’s been some years since Day, now 91 and so reclusive many may be surprised to learn she is still alive, used to steal through the streets of the nearby town of Carmel in the middle of the night on a regular basis. Locals would watch in surprise as she rounded up stray dogs and emaciated cats, bundling them in her car to take home and look after them. Sydney Wood, now 71 and living in Maine with his boyfriend, Cliff, paints a revealing - and not always flattering - portrait of a star who once dazzled audiences the world over. Raised in Suffolk and London, Mr Wood fondly remembers the bubbly blonde star’s screen roles as the burst of sunshine that dreary Fifties London needed.
My Heart is the 29th and final studio album by Doris Day, released on September 5, 2011. On September 11, 2011 the album entered the UK chart at number nine, making Doris Day, at age 89, the oldest artist to score a UK Top 10 with an album featuring new material. Eight of the songs are new releases, with three of them written by Day's son Terry Melcher, and Bruce Johnston. Many of the songs on this collection were recorded in the mid-1980s for her Doris Day's Best Friends television show.
