This LP was not only Charlie Barnet's final recording before he retired but is also the last album that veteran altoist Willie Smith ever made. With arrangements for the orchestra from Billy Byers and Bill Holman, solos by Barnet (on alto and soprano), Smith, pianist Jack Wilson and trumpeter Conte Candoli, and a fine Ruth Price vocal on "Something to Live For," this set wraps up Charlie Barnet's 32-year recording career quite nicely.

Charlie Barnet (October 26, 1913 - September 4, 1991) was unusual in several ways. One of the few jazzmen to be born a millionaire, Barnet was a bit of a playboy throughout his life, ending up with a countless number of ex-wives and anecdotes. He was one of the few white big band leaders of the swing era to openly embrace the music of Duke Ellington (he also greatly admired Count Basie).

Charles Daly Barnet (October 26, 1913 – September 4, 1991) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader. His major recordings were "Skyliner", "Cherokee", "The Wrong Idea", "Scotch and Soda", "In a Mizz", and "Southland Shuffle". Barnet was born in New York City. His parents divorced when he was two, and he was raised by his mother and her grandparents. His grandfather was Charles Frederick Daly, a vice-president for the New York Central Railroad, banker, and businessman.

Charlie Barnett (born February 4, 1988) is an American actor. He is known for his roles in Men in Black 3 (2012) and Private Romeo (2011). Barnett portrayed Peter Mills, a young new academy graduate who follows a long line of multi-generational firefighters, in NBC's drama Chicago Fire from 2012 till 2015. Barnett was raised on a sailboat in Florida until he was seven. His mother is Swedish and a former Mormon, and his father is a boatbuilder from Minnesota.
