In 1993, during negotiations regarding the release of The Gold Experience, a legal battle ensued between Warner Bros. and Prince over the artistic and financial control of his musical output. During the lawsuit, Prince appeared in public with the word "slave" written on his cheek. He explained that he had changed his name to an unpronounceable symbol to emancipate himself from his contract with Warner Bros.
Prince's Symbol: 'The Artist Formerly Known As Prince'. The lack of success for Love Symbol Album created tension between Prince and his record label Warner Bros. Over the ensuing years, the singer's career went through a roller coaster of ups and downs. Turned off by feeling controlled by his label, Prince changed his name to the unpronounceable glyph O(+ in 1993, a fusion of female and male astrological symbols which he used until 2000 . Several other albums affiliated with his NPG label soon followed, including Crystal Ball (1998) and Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic (1999). Photo: Getty Images).

The album followed a similar song structure to Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic, but two tracks (Everyday Is A Winding Road and Strange But True) were removed, and a different track (Beautiful Strange, which had previously been released on the Beautiful Strange home video in an alternate form) was added. Five of the tracks are remixes with new musical elements (Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic, Undisputed (The Moneyapolis Mix), The Greatest Romance Ever Sold, Hot Wit U (Nasty Girl Remix), and Man'O'War (Remix)). There are no known variants of Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic itself.
