I love and hate the world pipe band championships CDs. I love them because you can listen to so many incredible bagpipe bands playing at the top of their game right after another. However, I hate that after awhile it all starts to sound the same. Many of the top pipers and drummers perform, including several mentioned in your top 10. Reply. Some really excellent CD’s there, however, Volume One of the World’s Greatest Piper Series, PM Angus MacDonald, is one of the classics! cheers. January 21, 2015, 6:31 pm. I am fortunate to have albums of some of the the pipe bands from Scotland.
