Reggae singer and songwriter Dennis Brown (born February 1, 1957, Kingston - † July 1, 1999, Kingston) was one of the most popular artists in the history of Jamaican recorded music. Among his hits : "Money In My Pocket", "Sitting and Watching", "Cassandra", "No More Will I Roam", "Africa", "Love Jah", "Repatriation", "Jah Can Do It", "Love And Hate", "Promised Land", "Judge Not".
Two years down the road, Brown would score a hit with "Money in My Pocket. At the start of the 1980s, the singer's albums would find . release through A&M. Visions, however, finds him in his prime and on the verge of the international success he deserved.

DENNIS BROWN Dennis Brown was greatly influenced by American balladeers such as Sam Cooke, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin as well as Jamaican singers like Delroy Wilson and John Holt. At only 12-years-old, he cut his first hit "No Man Is An Island" at Clement "Coxsone" Dodd's famous Studio One. Within the years, he was a force to be reckoned with musically - dubbed the "Boy Wonder of Jamaica" and "Crown Prince of Reggae. In the 1970s, he worked closely with producer Joe Gibbs and released multiple albums. One of the album's songs "Money in my Pocket," peaked at on UK Top 40 chart becoming one of the biggest international hits in Jamaica's history. This success landed him the cover of the NME's February 1979 issue.
Born Dennis Emmanuel Brown in Kingston, Jamaica, in 1957, his childhood home virtually destined him t. .The album Super Reggae & Soul Hits gathers some of his work during this period and features a mix of superb, if lightweight, covers alongside a number of self-penned classics, all cut with producer Derrick Harriott. 1975's Best Of gathered a similar selection of material recorded for Joe Gibbs earlier in the decade. In 1972, the 16-year-old entered Gibbs' Duhaney Park studio and recorded the song that later established his international reputation, "Money in My Pocket. The following year, a resurrected "Money in My Pocket" gave the pair a mega-hit and spawned the Words of Wisdom album, which also boasted the classic "Ain't That Loving Yo. By 1979, Brown was already a legend, even though he'd barely reached adulthood.
