The Best of Ollie Nightingale. Call him a blues singer if you prefer, but Ollie Nightingale will likely always be recalled most readily for the emotionally charged Memphis soul he cut from 1968 to 1970 as front man for Ollie & the Nightingales. Like most great soul singers, Ollie Hoskins came straight out of church musically. He was the lead singer of the Dixie Nightingales, a Memphis spiritual aggregation, by 1958, when they made their vinyl debut on tiny Pepper Records.
Ollie Nightingale appeared in the 1993 film The Firm, starring Tom Cruise, and recorded four albums for Ecko Records afterwords Stax discography. 1971: "Don’t Do It I’m With You" b/w "Can’t Get Away". 1969: Ollie & the Nightingales (Stax 2021): "You'll Never Do Wrong"/ "Don't Make the Good Suffer"/ "Don't Do What I Did"/ "I've Got a Feeling"/ "You're Leaving Me"/ "Broke-In Love"/ "A-B-C-D"/ "Mellow Way You Treat Your Man"/ "Girl You Make My Heart Sing"/ "I've Never Found a Girl"/ "Showered With Love".
A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square" is a romantic British popular song written in 1939 with lyrics by Eric Maschwitz and music by Manning Sherwin. Berkeley Square is a large leafy square in Mayfair, a part of London. The Ritz Hotel referred to is just outside Mayfair, adjacent to Green Park. The nightingale, a migrant songbird, is celebrated in literature and music for the beauty of its song. It favours rural habitats, and is unlikely to be heard in Central London.
Featuring Ollie Wride. Running In The Night Lyrics. I used to be the one I used to be your place to land Under the shadows Into the palm of my hand You’re always changing the situation Just when we found paradise You’re always shutting down the conversation I can never read your mind. Oh, I’m running in the night so soon I’ve got nothing left to lose I’m leaving it all behind, running in the night with you I won’t let you get away again We can see it through to the end But whatever we do I'm running in the night with you. Ahh, ahh, ahh, ahh Running with the night Ahh, ahh, ahh, ahh I’m running with the night.
