Ursula Duetschler (Artist). Taken from William Byrd's contribution from the Fitzwilliam Virginal Book, Ursula Duetschler delivers a fantastic keyboard recital played here upon a seventeenth century Italian instrument. Despite the title, it was customary, in the day, for it to be played upon either virginal or harpsichord. Duetschler's phrasing, articulation and graces are totally in keeping with this late sixteenth and early seventeenth century repertoire. The digital sound reproduction is well balanced and clearly defined throughout.
