The Piano Concerto No. 21, is a piano concerto composed by Frédéric Chopin in 1829. Chopin wrote the piece before he had finished his formal education, at around 20 years of age. It was first performed on 17 March 1830, in Warsaw, Poland, with the composer as soloist. It was the second of his piano concertos to be published (after the Piano Concerto No. 1), and so was designated as "No. 2", even though it was written first.

Concerto pour piano No. 1 in E-Flat Major, S. 124: I. Allegro maestoso Leonard Pennario, Concert Arts Symphony Orchestra, Vladimir Golschmann. Allegro marziale animato Leonard Pennario, Concert Arts Symphony Orchestra, Vladimir Golschmann. Concerto No. 1 for Piano, Trumpet and String Orchestra in C Minor, Op. 35: III. Moderato Victor Aller, Concert Arts Orchestra, Felix Slatkin.

Concerto for Keyboard and Orchestra No. 1 in D Minor, BWV 1052: II. Adagio - Glenn Gould. Piano Concerto No. 1 in C Major, Op. 15: II. Largo - Glenn Gould, Vladimir Golschmann, Columbia Symphony Orchestra. 4 for Piano and Orchestra in G Major, Op. 58: III. Rondo - Vivace - Leonard Bernstein, Glenn Gould. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra N. in B-flat major, Op 19 - Molto allegro - Leonard Bernstein; Glenn Gould. in C minor, Op. 37 - Allegro - Leonard Bernstein; Glenn gould. in B-flat major, Op 19 - Adagio - Leonard Bernstein; Glenn Gould. Bach: Harpsichord Concert In D Minor. Allegro (Piano Version) - Glenn Gould. G. Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue - Leonard Bernstein. Bach: Harpsichord Concert In D Minor, BWV 974.

This concerto was the first of Chopin's two piano concertos to be published, and was therefore designated as 'no. 1', even though it was written after the one that was later published as 'no. 2'. The Piano Concerto no. 1 in E minor, Op. 11, was dedicated to Friedrich Kalkbrenner. The music of Poland appears in the finale, a Vivace - rondo that features a polka. Chopin paid homage to his homeland in numerous pieces, both big and small, and here he brought this lively dance to an international audience.

In his Concerto No. 1, the pianist must thunder up and down the keyboard as well as dazzle in dizzying flurries of notes. In both concertos, the orchestra is there primarily to provide a solid, ornamental frame for the soloist. Martha Argerich's playing probably would have knocked the socks off of Chopin, Liszt, or any other 19th-century virtuoso, for that matter. She can thunder and dazzle with the best of 'em - and she does so thrillingly in this performance of the Liszt Concerto
