Wilbur D. Bascomb Jr. is an American bass guitarist. He is the son of jazz trumpeter Wilbur "Dud" Bascomb, who played with Erskine Hawkins and Duke Ellington. In the 1970s, Bascomb worked with James Brown, then recorded on the album Wired (1976) by Jeff Beck. During the next year, he released the solo album Wilbur Bascomb and Future Dreams. He has worked with Roy Ayres, George Benson, Hank Crawford, Bo Diddley, . King, Bernard Purdie, Mick Taylor, and Players Association.

Walkin' Down The Street. Sharp 111 Dud Bascomb - Grumpy, Happy Horns. The Gospel Cavaliers. The Gospel Cavaliers, vocal group.

He has recorded with Galt McDermot, Jeff Beck, James Brown, and . He is also well-known for his performance on Jeff Beck's Wired album and the soundtrack for the 1979 film version of Hair. He co-wrote "Head For Backstage Pass". Not to be confused with his father Wilbur Bascomb S. jazz trumpeter (1916-1972).

Dud Bascomb occupies an unusual place in jazz history. Because he was one of the two trumpet soloists with the Erskine Hawkins Orchestra, and the other was the leader, Bascomb's solos (some of which were quite famous) were often thought at the time as being by Hawkins. The youngest of ten children, the younger brother of tenor saxophonist Paul Bascomb, and the future father of bassist Dud Bascomb, J. Dud started off on piano but soon switched to trumpet. In 1947 he spent a few months with Duke Ellington's Orchestra but unfortunately was rarely featured. In addition, he headed a single album for Savoy that was recorded during 1959-1960 but most of it wasn't released (despite its quality) until 1986.
