This is the currently selected item. Gerard Schwarz is a well-known conductor, trumpeter, and recording artist. He is best known for his role of principal trumpet in the New York Philharmonic (under the great Pierre Boulez) and for his direction of the Seattle Symphony, which he built into a world-class orchestra. He is also known for his direction of the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra; while with the latter group, he recorded the complete symphonies of Mahler and the tone poems of Richard Strauss.
Ludwig van Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 58, was composed in 1805–1806. Beethoven was the soloist in the public premiere as part of the concert on 22 December 1808 at Vienna's Theater an der Wien. It is scored for solo piano and an orchestra consisting of a flute, two oboes, two clarinets, two bassoons, two horns, two trumpets, timpani, and strings.
