Pianist, poet, and composer, Eliot Cardinaux was born in Dayton, Ohio in 1984, and has worked in the improvised music world for over 15 years. EPK from the album American Thicket, led by Eliot Cardinaux, featuring Mat Maneri, Thomas Morgan, and Flin van Hemmen, and released on Loyal Label, in 2016.

Eliot Cardinaux is a Boston-based pianist, composer and poet working in and around the East Coast United States. This album has been in the works for several years, and was recorded shortly before Trump was elected. It was recorded reel-to-reel, in a beautiful studio at the Danish Rhythmic Conservatory in Copenhagen, recorded and produced by the wonderful Peter Rossel Lademann, and sounds fucking bomb. It was mastered for vinyl, and yes I want you to HEAR it, and it will be released as a vinyl LP (yes, you read correctly), as well as a digital download, and a small poetry chapbook with the poetic works that appear on the record all scored out for your eyes to witness.

Thomas Morgan (born 14 August 1981 in Hayward, California) is an American jazz musician (upright bass, cello) in contemporary jazz. Morgan began playing the cello at 7, eventually switching to upright-bass at 14. In 2003 he received his bachelor's degree in Music from the Manhattan School of Music, where he studied with Harvie Swartz and Garry Diall. He has also studied briefly with Ray Brown and Peter Herbert.

Eliot Cardinaux by Paolo Peviani, published on February 8, 2017 at All About Jazz. Find more My Favourite Things articles.
