Complete your Fog collection. Fog moves from Ninja Tune to the former Warp subsidiary Lex Records, though their general aesthetic hasn't changed: hazy lo-fi indie rock, hip-hop inspired rhythms. Can You Believe It?" has a slow build that culminates into horns, while "We're Winning" carries an inherent sadness, despite its title, even as it skitters into some quick breaks.

It's a shame then that 10th Avenue Freakout pulls away from this blankness, thereby muting the effects of its incandescent peaks. Here Broder is breaking with obscurantism and moving toward catchy Postal Service-like song structures, but although the spacious, detailed production is still topnotch, the record suffers because Broder doesn't fully embrace his pop impulses. Hummer"- the title track to Fog's 2004 EP- recurs and is a template for this album.
Summary: Andrew Broder's third Fog album reprises the song "Hummer" from a recent EP of the same name, and adds 12 new tracks. It's both more vocal-oriented and (at times) more electronic than earlier efforts.
