Albert Malawi came to Alpha Boys School in 1966. He attended the school alongside Fish Clarke (Johnny Clarke's brother), Leroy Smart & Lennie Hibbert and he learned to play drums there. By demand of Sister Ignatius, he also became selector of the Alpha sound system for 3 years. He was nicknamed Turbit (after the fish with hard bones).

Lake Malawi will represent Czech Republic at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. The indie-pop band was founded by Albert Černý in 2013 and the band's name was inspired by a Bon Iver song. Since the very beginning, Lake Malawi wanted to make it outside of their home country Czech Republic with all their repertoire sung in English, and they will do just that when they take to the stage in Tel Aviv. After an extensive period of recording, the band released their first full-length debut album Surrounded By Light in 2017. The critically acclaimed record included the singles Paris and more alternative Prague (In The City).

The Back-to-Africa movement, also known as the Colonization movement or After slave act, originated in the United States during the 19th century. It encouraged those of African descent to return to the African homelands of their ancestors. This movement would eventually inspire other movements, ranging from the Nation of Islam to the Rastafari movement and proved to be popular among African Americans.
