But it’s a good insane. I wouldn’t have it any other way. For the third straight year, Fifth Harmony has released a full-length and concurrently flooded . televisions with performances and promotion; for third album, Fifth Harmony, however, the girl group has returned as a quartet following the departure of Camila Cabello last December. The schedules of Dinah, Ally Brooke Hernandez, Lauren Jauregui and Normani Kordei are as packed as ever, but the girls sound the most excited they’ve ever been to give a new body of work to fans. With the new album out now, Dinah and Ally went through each song on the 10-track release. Read their thoughts, feelings and remembrances of each song below: 1. Down feat. Ally: We definitely wanted to start off the tone with ‘Down. It’s very rhythmic, but it has the fun pop elements to the song, plus that urban vibe and feel, especially with Gucci on the track.
And sometimes it’s easier to enjoy a chorale if you can relish the fun without worrying about whether Kelly or Michelle will get her turn. Speaking of which: Fifth Harmony is about as close to an antithesis to Beyoncé’s Lemonade as a modern pop-R&B album can be. Aside from the moderately aggrieved Angel and Lonely Night, there’s a lot more compliance than confrontation in the album. Make You Mad isn’t about making a guy angry but making him mad with desire.
Fifth Harmony is Fifth Harmony's self-titled third studio album, which was released on August 25, 2017. The album's first single was called "Down" it was released on June 2, 2017. The album is the group's first record following the departure of Camila Cabello, who left the group in December 2016. It was their last album before they went on indefinite hiatus in May 2018. Before their hiatus, they completed their final shows and released a music video for "Don't Say You Love Me".
On their new album, Fifth Harmony are at their best when grappling with the age-old girl-group concern of how to reconcile independence with love. If The X Factor has done one good thing in its many years of manufactured drama and purposeful audition mockery, it’s near-singlehandedly keeping alive the decades-old tradition of the pop girl group in the West. While they never disappeared worldwide-girl groups and their alumnae dominate J- and K-pop, for instance-the only two Western girl groups with consistent pop clout are the UK’s Little Mix and the States’ Fifth Harmony, both products of their respective countries’ X Factors. There are some downsides to this.
It's a transformation the group already began on 2016's 7/27 and they're aided here by a bevy of producers including Skrillex, Poo Bear, Ammo, DallasK, the Monsters & Strangerz, and others. After the release 7/27, Cabello decided to go solo, leaving vocalists Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Lauren Jauregui, and Dinah Jane to figure out how to move forward. Rather than replace Cabello, they simply decided to be a four-piece. The result is an album that picks up on the slick, electronic vibe of 7/27 with a focus on songs for grown-ups and not the teens they initially appealed to.
