Luxury Problems is the second studio album by English techno musician Andy Stott. It was released in November 2012 under Modern Love Records. Stott's EP Passed By Me (2011) marks the beginning of the part of his discography where he made tracks with a less dub techno-tinged style that defined his previous records, opting instead for a much more bass-heavy sound a la Sunn O))) and Demdike Stare, slower tempos, and more abstract arrangements.

Andy Stott is a Manchester-based producer of dub and techno music who has released five albums with the Modern Love label. His debut album was Merciless in 2006, and was followed by Unknown Exception (2008) and Luxury Problems in 2012. Passed Me By (2011) marked a significant change in Stott's sound; it has none of the elements of his previous dub techno release, opting for a much more bass-heavy sound a la Sunn O))) and Demdike Stare.

Andy Stott's chilly debut, MERCILESS, starts with the subtle, melancholy throb of "Florence. Stott keeps the bass deep, even with the melody takes a lighter turn, as with "Edyocat. But he can also go the abstract route, with the subterranean rumbles of "Choke," while "Hi-Rise" is much lighter on its feet

Andy Stott - Merciless ‘Merciless’ sits on the bleeding edge of a contradiction, and does it calmly – with the serenity of a scalpel. The paradox at hand is that at a time in techno where length, modulation and n are in the ascendant, Andy Stott has redefined techno with an album that appears to violate its contemporary compositional principle: a near-perfect techno LP that moves faster than ghosts. The album is a forty-two minute lesson in the subtle craft of sonic shapeshifting. Florence’ begins with Lawrence-like pads as the song arranges itself around strings propelled by a very thick, wide kick. Edyocat’, the next in sequence, is classic echo chamber deep techno a la Gez Varley’s wonderful G Man works or even Claro’s recent ‘Warehouse Sessions’ material, then ‘Choke’ comes clean with a dubstep track that doesn’t grime so much as gleam.
