Sister Sledge is a Funk, Disco group, but there are beautiful ballad songs in each album. Nagaoka MP110 Cartridge is more suitable for rough music of the 70s than for albums these days. If the Ortofone 2MRED gives you a modern sound, the other way around is that Nagaoka has a more vintage sound. #LP.
Sister Sledge’s first album Circle of Love was released by ATCO (a subsidiary of Atlantic Records) in 1975 and included songs written by Gwen Guthrie and Gwen's then-boyfriend, studio bassist Patrick Grant who later changed his name to Haras Fyre. The group enjoyed some success in Europe and as a result, the album Together was recorded in Germany in 1977. Sister Sledge were duly invited to perform the national anthem at the opening game in front of 45,000 fans. The album was certified platinum by the RIAA and produced two more classic disco singles, "Lost in Music" and "Thinking of You". Around this time, Debbie Sledge went on maternity leave and the eldest sister, Carol, filled in for her. They were named Billboard ‘Best New Artist’. The title track became a number-three R&B hit but the following singles "Next Time You’ll Know" and "If You Really Want Me" did only moderate business.

Next time you'll know You must let your heart show Till the dyin day, my friend Maybe I hurt too easily But is it wrong To feel betrayed when love can't be You could change your mind No excuses could ever make me change mine But Ive got to be strong And believe I'll find the love, oh Next time believe it Next time you'll know Not to let my love go When you feel afraid And you can't love.

Inscribed by Joni/Sister Sledge on front artwork. Cd has a few light scratches. Artwork/case are very good. I'll say this, the music isn't half bad. Actually, I'm starting to like the album. It had been a while since Sister Sledge had released anything, atleast in the states, but this new release "African Eyes" is well worth the wait. Sisters Debbie, Joni and Kim Sledge return with a more mature sound that covers every base from jazz to house to pop. From the opening number, the very inspiring "Walking In The Light" (produced by the jazz fusion group Incognito) to the very sweet closing number "Cry for Soweto" the sisters take you on a trip that should be traveled over and over again.
