The album happiness is similar to Displacement and Ascent in that it is during an experimental stage, just surpassing a new plateau for Memex. It comes two months after the conclusion of Meta and, during that time, new ideas developed, showing a more lofi and dubstep approach. Displacement uses symbols to represent same, similar, different, and unknown, a personal philosophy, and has an image of Lain in the background lying on the floor. Ascent has an image from an artist’s rendition of Lain. Hypnagogia uses an image that had been the icon of Memex for almost a year.
MEMEX Dubstep Originally titled Love Memex is an experimental electronic dance music project that originated in 2014 and continues to evolve in 2017. MEMEX is an electronic dance music project founded in 2014 on a dark psychological anime based theme, in particular Serial Experiments Lain. The project is based on similar psychological concepts, such as those of Carl Jung. Melodic dubstep and drum and bass permeate as unique subgenres, utilizing a range of features taken from each style of music.
The memex (originally coined "at random", though sometimes said to be a portmanteau of "memory" and "index") is the name of the hypothetical proto-hypertext system that Vannevar Bush described in his 1945 The Atlantic Monthly article "As We May Think". Bush envisioned the memex as a device in which individuals would compress and store all of their books, records, and communications, "mechanized so that it may be consulted with exceeding speed and flexibility".
