The Death Set (also typeset as TheDeathSet or The DeathSet) is an experimental music band with roots in punk rock, sometimes referred to as art punk. The band formed in 2005 in Sydney, Australia. Six months after its inception, the band moved to the East Coast of the United States, living in Baltimore, Philadelphia and Brooklyn respectively, where the band found an audience for its style of experimental, cross genre, punk rock.

The Death Set’s new album, 'Michel Poiccard', comes prefigured by tragedy. For their first record 'Worldwide', the core of the group had been the two Aussie ex-pats who moved together to Baltimore in the early noughties – Beau Velasco and Johnny Siera. Just as the pair were about to embark on writing a new album together, Velasco, who had struggled with drug addiction on and off throughout his life, died of an overdose. The Death Set’s new album, 'Michel Poiccard', comes prefigured by tragedy.
