Released in 1988, ASCEND FROM THE CAULDRON is the first album by Deadly Blessing from Turnersville, New Jersey. I would liken them to an American version of Mercyful Fate, but without the goat-sucking idiocy, not to mention a more intense vibe. Some people compare the album to Fates Warning circa AWAKEN THE GUARDIAN (1986), and this is true to a degree, but the songs on AWAKEN are more laid-back and impenetrable compared to the frenzied, catchy material on ASCEND. After leaving Deadly Blessing, Ski formed the kick-axx Altered State and released the ing WINTER WARLOCK, which is just as good as Deadly Blessing, but even more technical and dynamic, if you can believe it. He was also in the band Faith Factor, which released an EP and a Full-length in 2007-2008.
