Gold Rush Junction - Volume 1 (LP, Album).
After the Gold Rush is the third studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young, released in September 1970 on Reprise Records. It is one of four high-profile albums released by each member of folk rock collective Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young in the wake of their chart-topping 1970 album Déjà Vu. Gold Rush consists mainly of country folk music, along with the rocking "Southern Man", inspired by the Dean Stockwell-Herb Bermann screenplay After the Gold Rush.
Gold Rush Junction was indeed in Pigeon Forge, TN. It began as Rebel Railroad, then it was Gold Rush Junction, then it was Silver Dollar City, and now it is Dollywood. The tipster that says it was in Maggie Valley, NC is either thinking of Ghost Town in the Sky or the Maggie Valley Railroad (another train ride type tourist attraction that is now gone) back in the 60s/70s. Album · 1970 · 11 Songs. In his time, Neil Young has played the visionary poet, the starry-eyed romantic, the maniacal garage rocker and more. On 1970's After the Gold Rush, he combines these personas into a compelling whole. Supported by the rough-hewn prowess of Crazy Horse, Young fills these tracks with wistful melancholy and moral outrage. His lyrics embrace sci-fi scenarios ("After the Gold Rush"), narrate cryptic nightmares ("Don't Let It Bring You Down"), and confront smoldering injustices ("Southern Man") with equal conviction
Despite the fact that the album contains some potentially first rate material, none of the songs here rise above the uniformly dull surface. There isn't another album quite so quintessentially Neil Young as After the Gold Rush, where he felt so comfortable and confident in his own skin.
After The Gold Rush was Neil Young's third album as a solo artist, and it turned out to be the most beautiful and emotionally moving record in his catalogue.
