Muppets: The Green Album is a cover album of twelve Muppet songs by various contemporary music artists. The album was released by Walt Disney Records on August 23, 2011 on a digipak CD and as a digital download. A music video was also produced for the album's sole single; "Muppet Show Theme Song", featuring OK Go attempting to produce their own music video until they are interrupted by the Muppets' antics.
Album · 2011 · 12 Songs. OK Go’s take on The Muppet Show Theme Song opens with an electro-indie reworking that’s so hip it begs for Kermit the Frog to be fitted with a pair of skinny jeans. Weezer sticks closer to the original blueprint with an endearing cover of The Rainbow Connection featuring guest vocals by Paramore’s Hayley Williams. And although it would have made perfect sense for Menomena to cover Mahna Mahna, the Fray pull it off replete with Isaac Slade singing a spot-on impersonation of beatnik Muppet, Bip Bippadotta

Muppets: The Green Album. Paying tribute to the Muppets is a trickier gig than Kermit & C. s warm and fuzzy reputation might lead you to believe. Artists: Various Artists Label: Walt Disney US Release Date: 2011-08-23 UK Release Date: 2011-08-22. If you grew up during the late '70s, then there’s a good chance you learned as many important life lessons from a frog, a pig, a bear, a dog, and a what-have-you, as you did from your parents and educators
Alkaline Trio score The Green Album’s first major highlight by taking guitars to road song Movin’ Right Along (think The Gimme Gimmes), complete with dooga-duns and Kermit and Fozzie’s comedic Studebaker banter. Andrew Bird beautifully channels his inner frog on Bein’ Green, Kermit’s classic song of self-acceptance, putting his own stamp on the song with his signature violin and Muppet-esque whistling. All that’s green isn’t necessarily gold here, but most of it shines. And these tracks, if you’re a 20, 30, or even fortysomething, will probably bring a smile to your now grown-up face. And you’ll probably have no better luck concealing it than Damian Kulash. But, hey, that’s what the frog does.
