Persona (Queen Latifah album). Studio album by Queen Latifah. August 25, 2009 (2009-08-25). On September 12, 2008, Rolling Stone reported that Queen Latifah is working on a new album entitled, "Persona". The song "Cue the Rain" was released as the album's lead single. This album will be, at least partially, produced by Izanagi The album debuted on the Billboard 200 at with just over 18,000 copies, but fell 95 places to in its second week. Dre from production duo Cool & Dre will team up with her in a song called "My Couch".

Dana Elaine Owens (born March 18, 1970), known professionally as Queen Latifah, is an American rapper, singer, songwriter, actress, and producer. Born in Newark, New Jersey, she signed with Tommy Boy Records in 1989 and released her debut album All Hail the Queen on November 28, 1989, featuring the hit single Ladies First. Nature of a Sista' (1991) was her second and final album with Tommy Boy Records.

Posts About Persona (Queen Latifah album). It had previously been stated that her return-to-hip-hop album would be titled "Negativity" and "Star". lt;/p

As anyone familiar with her recent screen and studio work would expect, Latifah's shifts from character to character are not rocky. What's the Plan" is an obvious Cheryl Lynn circa-"Encore" impersonation, albeit one streaked with Dre's vocal-effect-driven gibberish. Cue the Rain" works a rocking backdrop - not unlike a fist-pumping cut off a mid-'80s soundtrack - with quotes from Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain.

Queen Latifah is back on the hip-hop scene, Sort of. Persona combines a great deal of her rap skills with her singing skills. And While it's a great return to rap, There's not as much rap as we all anticipated. I haven't purchased a Queen Latifah album since Black Reign over 15 years ago, but have watched her growth as an artist, actress, and business woman since then with much admiration.
