Mirror Ball is the 21st studio album by Canadian musician Neil Young, and features members of Pearl Jam. It was released on July 8, 1995 through Reprise Records. The album has been certified gold by the RIAA in the United States. The album's recording sessions took place in January 1995 and February 1995 at Bad Animals Studio in Seattle, Washington. The album was produced by Brendan O'Brien, who had previously worked on Pearl Jam's 1993 album, V. and 1994 album, Vitalogy.

My first impression of David Bowie as he walked through the front door of our home for the annual BBQ fiesta that traditionally kicks off the Bridge School Benefit Concert weekend was how slight he was. His music and his persona were so large that I was struck by the contrast. As I approached him and his band to welcome them to our home and to thank them for coming to play for our kids, the next thing that stays in my memory is what an absolute gentleman he was.

Neil Percival Young OC, OM (born November 12, 1945) is a Canadian singer-songwriter. He began performing in a group covering Shadows instrumentals in Canada in 1960, before moving to California in 1966, where he co-founded the band Buffalo Springfield along with Stephen Stills and Richie Furay, later joining Crosby, Stills & Nash as a fourth member in 1969

In early 1995, Young dumped Crazy Horse and headed into a Seattle studio with Pearl Jam, where he cut an album in just four days. Unsurprisingly, the material is hit or miss, but the seven-minute-long I’m The Ocean is absolutely mind-blowing. Slip Away (Broken Arrow, 1996). Neil Young and Crazy Horse cut an album called Toast in 2001, but the sessions were ultimately scrapped and many of the songs were recut with Booker T and the MG’s for Are You Passionate? Greatest Hits is Neil Young's third compilation album after Decade and Lucky Thirteen. Eleven of the first twelve tracks appear on Decade, and the disc spans his solo career from 1969 through 1992.

In 1995 Neil Young recorded the collaborative album Mirror Ball with Pearl Jam. This caused concern for Epic Records, who weren’t too eager to drop a Pearl Jam album with another label. They eventually allowed the record to be released, as long as the front cover didn’t mention Pearl Jam and Eddie Vedder’s original songs were left out. 56.
