Wayne Kemp, a former guitarist for George Jones and Patsy Cline, a member of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame whose material had been recorded by everyone from Ernest Tubb to Elvis Costello, and the pen behind country classics such as "One Piece at a Time" and "Love Bug," died March 9 at Macon County General Hospital in Lafayette, Tenn. Though Kemp's record was largely unheard of, somehow Conway Twitty ended up hearing it and recording it for his 1966 album "Look Into My Teardrops. This was the beginning of a fruitful relationship between writer and singer. Wayne Kemp leaves behind his wife, Patsy, a son, two daughters, seven of his siblings, 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
