Album · 2000 · 10 Songs. 2001 Dromedary Music. Live From The Make Believe.
Dromedary’s first release Artifact features 10 mostly original songs co-composed by Dromedary in their first two years of sitting around writing songs with no particular goal in mind. Artifact was featured on NPR’s All Songs Considered just months after this debut release. They've transformed folk that is as old as the hills - made it new and fresh again through their exuberant playing -Daniel Arizona, Splendid Magazine, New York City, January 2002.
Artifact is Dromedary's debut album. Except for an Andean folk melody and a piece by Carlos Paredes, everything was composed or arranged by them. Although flamenco influences abound, Andrew Reissiger and Rob McMaken don't resort to flashy displays of virtuosity. Their compositions convey a sense of easiness, but they feature some interesting developments, especially in "Letter From the Front" and "The Jolly Gobbler. They have been recorded up close in a warm studio atmosphere. In short: Artifact is a guitar-lover's delight, perfect for dinner accompaniment or attentive listening.
Dromedary, also known as the Dromedary Quartet, is an American world music band originally based out of Athens, Georgia but now with members on both coasts. The group formed as a duo consisting of Andrew Reissiger and Rob McMaken playing a variety of instruments from cultures across the globe. The group's most recent album Sticks and Stones features New Orleans-to-Athens transplant Louis Romanos (percussion) and Chris Enghauser (bass).
Artifact is the sixth studio album by The Electric Prunes, released in 2002. It was their first studio album since 1969. The album is said to be the "real third" album by the band since past developments did not include material by the actual group. Sleeve notes state it "was the album we never got to make". This album is a return to most of the band's original sixties lineup. Lost Dream" (James Lowe, Mark Tulin) – 5:02. 7 and 7 Is" (Arthur Lee) – 3:15. Big Stick" (Lowe, Tulin) – 2:56.

Dromedary began playing as a duo with no professional ambitions in mind back in the last century (1998). Possessing a fascination with music from other countries to which they had traveled, Rob McMaken and Andrew Reissiger were inspired to listen, study, compose, and eventually perform some of this music together on each other's front porches in Athens, GA. Passersby eventually convinced them to play in a club, and the rest is history
