As Cale's influence on others expanded, he just continued to turn out the occasional album of bluesy, minor-key tunes. This one was even sparer than usual, with the artist handling bass as well as guitar on many tracks. Listened to today, it sounds so much like a Dire Straits album, it's scary. Mark Knopfler & Co. had appeared in 1978, seven years after Cale.

JJ Cale is one of those artist I thought I knew, but after getting this album and really listening to it I realized the man had a depth of talent that i had not ever fully appreciated. He was a remarkably talented song writer and had a deft talent with the guitar. Great artist, good songwriter and performer. Highly recommend this album.

His personal style was laid back and his lyrics often described as laconic. Laid back and laconic probably describe him personally as well.
