Osipov State Russian Folk Orchestra. The State Russian Folk Orchestra N. P. Osipov (Государственный русский народный оркестр имени Н. П. Осипова) is a Russian folk music orchestra. It was founded in 1919 by the balalaika player B. C. Troyanovski. The orchestra was renamed after Nikolai Petrovich Osipov who led the orchestra from 1940. He was succeeded by his brother Dmitri Osipov from his death in 1945 to his brother's death in 1954.

And no other orchestra has contributed so much to the popularity of this beautiful Russian music than the Ossipov Balalaika Orchestra. The ensemble, founded by Boris Troyanovsky and Pyotr Alekseyev in 1919, made its premiere in Moscow's Hermitage Gardens. It was soon touring throughout Russia, and the commencement of regular performances on radio in 1924 made their name known in even the most remote parts of the country.
