It was released in November 1986. Originally, the project was handled by Combat Records, and this resulted in the first mix of the album. It was remixed and remastered in 2004 by Dave Mustaine.

Peace Sells was Megadeth's breakthrough moment. With new major-label backing and some of the best songs of their career, the band had officially arrived and were poised to finally present a viable challenge to Mustaine's former group, Metallica, as thrash's reigning trailblazers. The album's title track, in particular, became inescapable, with its iconic opening bassline in constant replay as the introduction to MTV News - though Mustaine would gripe that he never saw any royalties from that usage.

Peace Sells from Megadeth. Not one weak track, riff, or lyric this album in many ways bested the others. Only their sophomore album, Megadeth created something few have touched, even themselves. Much like Reign in Blood it doesn't let up either from beginning to end. There's no slower moments or acoustic intros just full on distorted wall of sound thrash.
