Live in London, Hammersmith Apollo 1993 is a concert film by the then newly reformed Dio band on the last night of their European tour in support of the Strange Highways album. The concert was recorded at Hammersmith Apollo in London, England on December 12, 1993. The film was released on CD, DVD and Blu-ray in 2014 by Eagle Rock Entertainment. The band's performers included Ronnie James Dio (vocals), Vinny Appice (drums), Jeff Pilson (bass) and Tracy G (guitar)
Strange Highways" is the forgotten Dio album released when metal was about to be knocked into a coma. This last album under his Reprise contract came and went in a hurry but, just as Mr Dio had predicted in an interview from 1994, this album has slowly been rediscovered and seems to be appreciated more than his best known work. These were "angry" times.
Strange Highways" is the heaviest and arguably the angriest album in Dio's long solo career. I did not like it that much at first, because it was a great departure from his previous albums, containing darker lyrical themes and noticeably heavier music.
