Leave the Blindfold" is probably the weakest track in the album, Jemma Wakeman adds good vocals to a soft and predictable track with some BEATLES aroma, not,my cup of tea. At this point, I caught the idea behind the album, seems like a trip across past stages of Rick's career and "Waveform" sounds close to "The Breathalyser" from "Criminal Record", but this time with enhanced brilliance and pomp.

Rick Wakeman - Retro (2006). Recommended album for Wakeman fans, but not interesting enough for anyone else. Other problems include some mediocre songwriting in places

This album is a milestone in Rick& discography and I& sure that the best album by Rick is ahead. Retro" isn& a consept work (sound of the instruments is consept here) - it is a collection of prog-rock songs and instrumentals. Of course not all of the tracks are high standard classics, but we have one of the most interesting albums by Rick in the last years. By the way, did you hear his previous album - "Rick Wakeman at Lincoln Cathedral", where Rick plays authentic church organ - completly his own new music?! .  . The later is sung by Jemma Wakeman and should have been a hit. You can tell Rick enjoyed making this record. It sounds like he was having a blast experimenting in the studio.

"This album is dedicated to the memory and genius of Dr. Bob Moog, who sadly passed away during the making of this album. Originally there were only 9 tracks intended for the Retro album, but a 10th was written especially in Bob's honour and is entitled Homage To The Doctor."
