Slide guitarist Dave Hole kicks up a fun ruckus on Ticket to Chicago, his fourth album for Alligator Records. This native of Perth (Australia), the Chicago blues label's first overseas signing, realizes for the first time his dream of playing with Chicago blues musicians - bassist Johnny B. Gayden (Albert Collins), pianist Tony Z (Larry McCray, Buddy Guy), and drummer Ray "Killer" Allison (Buddy Guy), along with (on several tracks) a horn. section and harmonica (courtesy of Billy Branch).

Dave Hole is an Australian Blues Rock slide guitarist who burst onto the international scene in 1991 with his first album, Short Fuse Blues, which was picked up by America’s most prestigious blues label, the Chicago based Alligator Records. He has since released a further eight albums; all of which have earned critical acclaim from such publications as ‘Billboard’, ‘Guitar Player’, ‘Guitar World’, ‘The Washington Post’, ‘Chicago Tribune’ and ‘Esquire’ magazine. General information on Dave Hole's personal life and career is a bit scant outside of the basics, as the man has relied mostly on word of mouth, especially that of the Perth music scene, to get around. But a few details slip through the cracks, and Ticket To Chicago being his first album with actual liner notes gives us some background on his goals in entering the musical landscape. Steel On Steel, his last effort, featured his signature song, Take Me To Chicago, but the liner notes for Ticket go further and explain that was a statement of intent
