Saint Julian is the third solo album by Julian Cope. It has a very strong pop sound, compared to other Cope releases, and spawned several of his best known tracks (including "World Shut Your Mouth" and "Trampolene", which were both hit singles). Saint Julian was the first album recorded under a new Cope deal with Island Records, following two poorly selling albums on the Mercury/Polygram label.

World Shut Your Mouth (1984) is the debut solo album by Julian Cope. World Shut Your Mouth was written during Cope's 1983 retreat to the village of Drayton Bassett (close to his childhood home of Tamworth), following the breakup of Cope's former band The Teardrop Explodes.

One of the most striking things about Cope is how he at once incorporates any range of '60s and '70s influences, high profile or obscure, and is able to turn them all into his own sound, high on life (and other things, no doubt) and bursting with creative energy. Even his supposedly lost years documented on World Shut Your Mouth and Fried find him hitting new heights, as "Reynard the Fox" and "An Elegant Chaos" show. Peggy Suicide remains Cope's best standalone album, but Floored Genius is crucial at showing the heights of his work.

Kilimanjaro (The Teardrop Explodes album). Kilimanjaro is the debut album by the neo-psychedelic Liverpool band The Teardrop Explodes, released on 10 October 1980. It contains versions of the band's early singles – "Sleeping Gas", "Bouncing Babies", "Treason" & "When I Dream" – as well as their biggest hit, "Reward"
The early material from The Teardrop Explodes is pretty forgettable for anyone who doesn't associate it with the time and place whence it arose, and my pop sensibilities, so satisfied by the three aforementioned tunes, make the later material somewhat unpalatable. 8 people found this helpful. Ordinarily, such a description would be a deterrent to me, as I tend to go for harder stuff with a little bit of grungy edge to it. Cope's music has a distinctly quirky, whimsical quality to it, slightly reminiscent of the Flaming Lips or perhaps Peter Gabriel. There is not much brooding anger on the surface, and you could even say that his better songs are propelled by a sort of naive innocence.
