Book of Bad Decisions is the twelfth studio album by the band Clutch, released on September 7, 2018, through the band's own label Weathermaker Music. The album was released on CD, regular black vinyl, limited coke bottle clear vinyl and on picture disc, and was produced by Vance Powell. MetalSucks praised the album, calling it a "slightly disjointed record that sounds like the simmering undercurrent of disbelief, anxiety, and rage that lies just below the surface of the world today

Book of Bad Decisions kicks off on a personal note, as singer and main lyricist Neil Fallon tells the tale of a dispute over a stolen microphone in a show in Texas, where they played to an attendance of ONE, on their first tour. Gimme the Keys is followed by Spirit of ’76 and the title track, which are both classic Clutch. How to Shake Hands is a fast-paced number which traces its origin back to Ry Cooder and John Lee Hooker via the song John Lee Hooker for President . The double punch of Earth Rocker and the following album Psychic Warfare propelled them to a new level in terms of popularity, and Book of Bad Decisions will surely maintain that trend. Released By: Wheathermaker Music Release Date: September 7th, 2018 Genre: Rock. Band Members: Neil Fallon, vocals, rhythm guitar, harmonica, keyboards, percussion. Tim Sult, lead guitar. Dan Maines, bass guitar. Jean-Paul Gaster, drums, percussion.

On one hand, much of what’s being played is distinctly Clutch – that is, gritty, biting, and seasoned with a ay-no-bullshit style that has become something of a hallmark – but a lot of it is tracing over new ground. That’s because both Powell, a veteran of concert sound production - and Clutch themselves, created this album in that very manner. Instead of instruments being tracked individually in isolated takes and then composited, the tracks were performed live as a unit. In reality, this is ultimately a live album (although, they have 5 of those very things already) – it just so happened to be recorded in a studio in Nashville, instead of on stage in front of a couple of hundred Gearheads. Fitting, really, for a band that’s described themselves over the years as a ‘reluctant studio band’.
