Illinois is Stevens' second based on a . state-part of a planned series of fifty that began with the 2003 album Michigan and that Stevens has since acknowledged was a joke.
Worst Track: Mate, you would be considered crazy if you think there’s a bad track on this album.
Illinois (or Sufjan Stevens Invites You To: Come On Feel The Illinoise) is the second album in the so-called 50 States Project, which later turned out to be a stunt. The album focuses on Illinois and includes some things from Sufjan’s past as well. The artwork for the album originally included Superman but was eventually replaced (or, on some albums, flat-out removed). Contrary to popular belief, this is not because DC Comics filed a cease and desist.
Sufjan Stevens (/ˈsuːfjɑːn/ SOOF-yahn; born July 1, 1975) is an American singer-songwriter and t. His debut album A Sun Came was released in 1999 on the Asthmatic Kitty label, which he cofounded with his stepfather. He received wide recognition for his 2005 album Illinois, which hit number one on the Billboard Top Heatseekers chart, and for the single "Chicago" from that album.
In 2002, Sufjan Stevens declared his intention to record an album for each of America’s 50 states. He never made it past this second attempt, presumably because it would be nearly impossible to realize the concept so perfectly ever again. Illinois is an audacious spectacle, offering up grand anthems ( Chicago ) one moment and sympathetic laments for serial killers ( John Wayne Gacy, Jr. ) the next. Illinois Sufjan Stevens.

Difficulty: intermediate. I sincerely hope you enjoy playing through this album as much as I did transcribing & compiling it. It is truly a masterpiece, especially when considered as a complete work.
