Bob Dylan "Saved" (1980) album. A Satisfied Mind Lyrics. 10. The Original Mono Recordings.
Saved was the second album of Dylan's "Christian trilogy", following his conversion to Evangelical Christianity. The album hit No. 3 on the UK charts, reached No. 24 on the US charts and did not go gold. CCM Magazine described the album as an "open declaration of Dylan's deepening faith. Critical reaction to the album was mixed. Robert Christgau awarded the album a "C+", which is described by Christgau as "most likely a failed experiment or a pleasant piece of hackwork".
On Saved, Bob Dylan rarely talks about anything that doesn't have to do with praising God. The only song that really works is the subdued opener, A Satisfied Mind, that wasn't even written by Dylan, as it's a cover of another song. Every song is almost the same in terms of topic and gets repetitive when repeated for 43 minutes. After Shot Of Love, Bob Dylan dropped the devout Christian music that was released from 1979 to 1981. This album is not worth a listen and is far from what Bob Dylan is capable of creating. While not the worst religious album of all time, as many artists have even more boring and repetitive CCM albums, it is quite the sin in the music world.
Written by: Bob Dylan and Tim Drummond. I was blinded by the devil Born already ruined Stone-cold dead As I stepped out of the womb By His grace I have been touched By His word I have been healed By His hand I’ve been delivered By His spirit I’ve been sealed. I’ve been saved By the blood of the lamb Saved By the blood of the lamb Saved Saved And I’m so glad Yes, I’m so glad I’m so glad So glad I want to thank You, Lord I just want to thank You, Lord Thank You, Lord. By His truth I can be upright By His strength I do endure By His power I’ve been lifted In His love I am secure He bought.
