Redirected from Foo Fighters seventh studio album). Wasting Light is the seventh studio album by American rock band Foo Fighters. It was released on April 12, 2011 on RCA Records, and is the first album to feature rhythm guitarist Pat Smear since The Colour and the Shape (1997). Wanting to capture the essence of their earlier work and avoid the artificiality of digital recording, the Foo Fighters recorded in the garage of frontman Dave Grohl in Encino, California, using only analog equipment
Wasting Light is the Foo Fighters' seventh album, released in 2011. While on tour with Them Crooked Vultures, Dave Grohl thought of the master plan for when FF returned: doing it in his garage (where he used to do demos), with no electronic equipment, under the production of Butch Vig (his first full album with Grohl since Nirvana’s Nevermind) and with its production accompanied by a career-spanning documentary on the. band. Tour guitarist Pat Smear was also back as an official member 12 years after his departure.
Wasting Light (2010–2012). Foo Fighters in 2009. From left to right: Hawkins, Shiflett, Grohl, Mendel. The first single from Wasting Light, "Rope", was released to radio in February 2011. Wasting Light debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, being. the first Foo Fighters album to do so. Other singles for the album included "Walk", "Arlandria", "These Days", and "Bridge Burning".
The back-to-basics album Wasting Light reunites Dave Grohl with producer Butch Vig and former Nirvana mates Krist Novoselic and Pat Smear. There, despite having never heard any of the yet-to-be-released Foo Fighters songs, young Nirvana fans were showing up early and in numbers. Marigold!" they'd scream out between songs, in hopes of hearing the one Grohl-penned Nirvana tune there was. He never played it. The idea of Grohl opening for anyone now seems just as ridiculous as him having to field requests for anything but one of the two dozen modern rock hits he's released since. But in Wasting Light, Grohl is attempting to come full circle.
Wasting Light does not mince words - it's punchy, crisp, and feels like an amalgamation of everything they've done in the past. It features rockers, ballads, and even the grunge-metal of their self-titled debut, all packed onto one disc. You could consider it a primer for all things Foo, and in an odd way it even makes a better "greatest hits" than their actual Greatest Hits. The album's strongest quality is that familiarity - the Foo Fighters always sound like themselves, and they'll never throw you for a loop
The Foo Fighters have revealed the title and full tracklist of their seventh full-length and follow-up to 2007's "Echoes, Silence, Patience & Grace. Wasting Light" will be released on April 12 in the . On Monday, the band released a video, featuring Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister as a badass chauffeur, as a special "Valentine's Day gift" for fans
With Wasting Light, the Foo Fighters manage to put out a rare extremely consistent album and save themselves from the "singles band" label they had owned for a few years (until "Wheels" came ou. .you can already guess how much I detest that song). What this album does achieve is being the bands' best since the landmark The Colour and the Shape, and one of the best mainstream rock albums in recent memory. I hope (wish more like) that somehow-popular radio-rock.
