Diana La Cazadora Baltimore’s War On Women were born screaming-at the world, at the status quo, in the face of oppression. Riff-fueled manifestos are nothing new for War On Women. The co-ed feminist punk troupe has been tackling injustice one song at a time since their 2010 inception. Baltimore’s War On Women were born screaming-at the world, at the status quo, in the face of oppression. The band’s forthcoming album Capture The Flag calcifies that rage, and no one in its wake is safe. Much more than a collection of songs or sonic experiment, Capture The Flag is a call to action that cannot be ignored. Ceding the gang vocals that peppered their debut album, War On Women opted to cultivate the singular voices of women who have devoted their lives to riling against the powers that be. The result is a crucible of discontent that will inspire as much as it will incense.
New favourite band, War On Women, from Baltimore, MD. So good. They describe themselves as playing hardcore punk made by some Baltimore Feminists. Touring hard with Propaghandi and getting praise from Laura Jane Grace has lead to this album being called ‘one of the best hardcore/punk albums of the year’ already in certain circles. Deservedly so. It is a proper protest-and-survive, mean-it-man, ideals-first punk-rock album. This is an older video of a track from their previous Improvised Weapons EP and is not on the new album. War on Women’s Bandcamp page is here: waronwomen. More writing by Ged on Louder Than War can be found at his author’s archive.

War on Women are pissed off. Combining intense, thrashy guitars with socio-political lyrics, the Baltimore hardcore act’s self-titled debut album is not only a half hour of pure aggression, but it also stands to be one of the best hardcore albums of the year. Much like the band’s Improvised Weapons EP, War on Women tackles the misogyny and sexism prevalent in the world today, leaving no stone unturned
War On Women have spent their whole career "educating" fans like these. Potter and her Baltimore band emerged in 2010 with their critical gaze - and incendiary brand of melodic hardcore - already fully focused. And their music and critiques have only gotten sharper.
